Rihanna Brief Biography :
It is no doubt that Rihanna is a popular pop star, as she has had us dancing to her music for more than a decade and half since she broke out in the music scene in 2005. However, her story is quite an inspirational one. Born Robyn Rihanna Fenty on February 20, 1988, to an accountant mother and a warehouse supervisor father, she grew up in a dysfunctional family. Her mother had three children for her dad including her and her two brothers. She also has two half-sisters and a half-brother from her father’s side. She experienced domestic violence from her young age, as she often saw her dad hitting her mother and so many times was forced to intervene.
Terrible and Violence Experience :
She experienced terrible headaches while growing up and doctors began to fear that the constant headaches were as a result of a tumor in her head. The headaches were later to be associated with the domestic abuse she was witnessing at home, as when her mother separated from her father when she was 14, her health improved greatly.
Her journey into music started when she formed a group with two other girls in her class in high school. They went for an audition, but Rihanna stood out and American record producer Evan Rodgers who was at the audition that day was impressed by her covers of songs by Destiny’s Child and Mariah Carey. He immediately asked her to come back at a later date for another audition with her mother. Rodgers was convinced that he had a raw talent on his hand and he quickly flew back to the US to try to convince record executives to sign her. His search for a deal for her led him to Def-Jam which was then headed by her soon to become friend and mentor, Jay -Z.

Jay-Z requested to see her perform in person and he too was impressed by her talent, especially when she performed her first single, click on “Pon de Replay” to download the song. He did not allow her to leave the building until she had signed a six-album record deal, with Music of the Sun being the first. Since she made her musical debut with the aforementioned album, which went gold in the US, she has not looked back and has bestrode the music industry like a colossus, dishing out hit singles and albums for almost 15 years.
Rihanna’s Success and Achievements :
Her success in the music industry has not gone unnoticed. She has garnered millions of dollars from an endorsement from big companies like Kodak, Nivea, and Budweiser.
Rihanna’s Passion From Music To Fashion :
Her interest is not restricted to music alone, as she has dabbled into acting and fashion. She has acted in a handful of movies and her greatest job so far in her acting career, is starring in Ocean’s 8 in 2018. The movie was a box office success and has gone on to gross ＄3oo million world wide.
The fashion-forward singer has been able to leverage on her love for fashion and her global appeal to establish Fenty, a fashion brand by Rihanna under luxury fashion group LVMH which launched in May 2019.
In June 2019, Rihanna was named the richest female musician with an estimated net worth of $600 million by Forbes Magazine.
However, her interest in philanthropy has led to the creation of two foundations, Believe Foundation in 2007 and The Clara Lionel Foundation (CLF) in 2012. The two foundations are actively working on helping terminally ill children and fund efforts on cancer research.
